ESPLORA - Unveiling Innovative Insights

The First ever Research Undergraduate Conference, ‘ESPLORA-unveiling innovative insights,’ organized by the Research and Development Committee of Government Dental College and Hospital, Mumbai, took place on 5thand 6th April, 2024.

DAY 1 - RESEARCH CONFERENCE (APRIL 5TH2024)

The research program commenced with an introduction to the idea of research at the undergraduate level. A pre-test was conducted to assess the existing knowledge of the students regarding dental research. Dignitaries present for the program included respected Dean Dr. Wasundhara Bhad (Patil) along with members of the Research & Development Committee, Dr. Arti Gangurde, Dr. Manoj Ramugade, Dr. Jyoti Wankhade, and the Head of the Microdentistry Department, Dr. Sayed Abrar. The event was graced by the presence of all Heads of Departments (HODs) and participants.

The day was followed by lectures of the speakers Dr. Wasundhara Bhad (Patil) madam on ‘Why Research At Undergraduate Level?’, Dr. Easwaran Ramaswamy on ‘Selection of research topic and study design’, Dr. Tabita Joy on ‘Research proposal’ and Dr. Vijayalakshmi Nimma on ‘Formation of Research Question and Hypothesis.  A total of 165 students including the GDCH, Mumbai undergraduates and postgraduates of other colleges in Mumbai participated in the conference.

DAY 2 - RESEARCH CONFERENCE

Day 2 of the Research Conference on April 6th, 2024, began with a recap of the first day through a video presentation, setting the tone for the day’s proceedings. An interactive session followed, allowing participants to engage and share insights from the previous day.

The day unfolded with a series of enlightening lectures, covering various crucial aspects of research. Dr. Sumedh Sonawane delivered a session on Questionnaire Designing, focusing on the intricacies of crafting effective research instruments.

The day concluded with a post-test to assess the participants’ understanding and retention of the concepts of Research discussed throughout the conference. Furthermore, a discussion session provided an opportunity for participants to delve deeper into the topics covered and clarify any queries. Creative tasks were also incorporated into the program, fostering innovation and critical thinking among the attendees, thus enriching their research experience.

VALEDICTORY FUNCTION

The valedictory function was graced by our Honourable Chief Guest, The Vice Chancellor of Maharashtra University of Health Sciences. Nashik, Lieutenant General Dr. Madhuri Kanitkar Madam. Dr. Jayanthi Shastri, Professor and Head of the Department of microbiology, TN medical college and Nair Hospital, Lab director, Kasturba Hospital for Infectious Diseases, Mumbai also graced the event by her valuable presence.

The conference and workshop concluded on a high note, with Dr. Sangeeta extending a vote of thanks to all participants, organizers, and dignitaries involved.

It was indeed a delightful and enriching experience, providing attendees with valuable knowledge and insights that they can carry forward to excel in research, dental education, and practice. The event served as a platform for fostering collaboration, sharing expertise, and nurturing a culture of continuous learning and improvement in the field of dentistry.
