Rotaract Club of GDCH Mumbai
The Rotaract Club of Government Dental College and Hospital, Mumbai has completed 50 years of service since Its establishment in 1971. This year the theme of the club is TRANSFORM TO PERFORM. The primary agenda of the club is providing community service to those in need. The services provided by the club include dental screening in the form of checkup camps. Besides this, there are fun related activities as well organized for the members of the club which are students of GDC and H Mumbai. The core organizing team comprises 35 students under the leadership of President Taikhum Palgharwala and Secretary Soumya Yadav and the guidance of Dean Dr. Dimple Padawe as the club advisor.
Some of the events undertaken under such an able leader ship are:
A Covid-19 vaccination Drive was conducted in GDC&H, Mumbai with the aim of promoting awareness among people about the importance of vaccination in testing times.
A club service event of Treasure Hunt was organized by RCGDC. A total of 11 teams participated and had to stroll across Fort, to complete the hunt and be declared as the winner.
A dental check-up camp was organized through the Rotaract Club of Government Dental College and hospital at Desire Society, an orphanage in Chincholi Bunder, Malad(W). The organization focuses on disadvantaged children emphasizing on HIV+ve victims, children abandoned by one or both parents, children of sex workers, truck drivers, and children who have been abused and belong to poor socio-economic conditions.
NESH organized a dental camp at Dharavi which was conducted by the Rotaract Club of GDC with the primary objective of imparting awareness regarding oral health care needs amongst the people of Dharavi.A total of 156 adult patients along with approximately 50 children reported for the check-up which was threefold the expected.
RCGDC in collaboration with 9 other Rotaract clubs from Mumbai distributed 200 sanitary pads to tribal women and girls and counseled them on their use, advantages, and disposal methods in Jogeshwari and Marol.
A multiphase clothes donation drive was organized and initiated by RCGDC in collaboration with various other NGOs across the city.
On March 11, A workshop was organized on Exfoliative cytology by the Department of Oral Pathology in collaboration with RCGDC, a total of 55 students participated.
CHUNABHATTI DENTAL CAMP was organized on 17/4/22 in collaboration with the IDA Mumbai branch. Children were educated on the importance of oral hygiene and the volunteers distributed oral hygiene kits.
On 13th March, RCGDC visited ADMC, Talwada for a treatment-oriented dental camp for the villagers, here extractions and scaling and medications were prescribed.
