World AIDS Day

Under the leadership of Dean Dr. Wasundhara Bhad (Patil) , Vice Dean (Academic) Dr. Dimple Padawe,HOD Dr.Tabita Joy ,the Department of Oral Pathology & Microbiology observed World AIDS Day on 3rd December 2024. Centered around the theme “Take the Rights Path: My Health, My Right!”, the event was an initiative to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS and advocate for a stigma-free society.
The program began at 9:30 AM in Lecture Theater-3 with an introduction by Dr. Niharika, who highlighted the importance of coming together to address HIV/AIDS-related issues. This was followed by an address from Dr. Dimple Padawe, who inspired the audience with her message on creating a supportive and informed community. At 10:00 AM, Dr. Prabhakar Devanpalli delivered an insightful lecture on the scientific and social aspects of HIV/AIDS, emphasizing advancements in treatment and the significance of early diagnosis.
Participants came together at 11:00 AM to take a pledge against HIV-related stigma. At 11:05 AM, Dr. Salma Tadvi delivered vote of thanks appreciating the contributors for their dedication to the cause. The program concluded with a vibrant and thought-provoking skit by 2nd-year BDS students at 12:00 noon. Their performance addressed common myths, facts, and societal challenges associated with HIV/AIDS, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.
With 125 students and 10 staff members in attendance, the event was a resounding success, reflecting the institution’s commitment to promoting awareness, eliminating stigma, and ensuring health rights for all.
