World Orthodontic Day

On May 15, 2024, World Orthodontic Day was celebrated in Department of Orthodontics, GDC&H, Mumbai under the guidance of Dr. Suryakant Powar, Professor and Head of the Orthodontic Department, with the esteemed presence of our Dean Dr. Wasundhara Bhad (Patil) and Vice Dean Jyoti Tembhurane.

The event was graced by the attendance of all department Heads, teaching and non-teaching staff members, interns, undergraduate, and postgraduate students.

The program commenced with the inauguration of a dental chairs, accompanied by a traditional pooja ceremony by the auspicious hands of Dean Dr. Wasundhara Bhad (Patil) followed by an orthodontic awareness program in Lecture Theater 2.

 

The welcome address was carried out by Dr. Priya Rajput, 2nd PG, followed by a brief but insightful briefing by Dr. Suryakant Powar, the Head of the Department, highlighting the significance of celebrating Orthodontic Day and showcasing the department’s notable achievements. Later, the event hosted by Dr. Pallavi 2nd year PG featured a series of short reels focused on orthodontic awareness displayed on the screen made by interns, clinical assistants and postgraduates. These clips covered crucial topics such as oral hygiene instructions, dispelling myths, and providing fact checks to enhance understanding about orthodontic treatment. Subsequently, clinical cases were presented, demonstrating the practical applications of orthodontic techniques and treatments. The audience also had the privilege of hearing testimonials of patients shared by postgraduates, offering personal insights and reflections on their orthodontic journey. Following these engaging presentations, the inauguration of pamphlets was done by the Dean Dr. Wasundhara Bhad (Patil) and heads of departments, symbolizing a commitment to spreading knowledge and awareness about orthodontics practices. Finally, the event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Dr. Anisha 2nd year PG, acknowledging the efforts of everyone involved in making the World Orthodontic Day celebration a resounding success.
