National Prosthodontist Day 2025 Celebration
The Department of Prosthodontics, Government Dental College and Hospital, Mumbai, celebrated National Prosthodontist Day under the able guidance of respected Dean, Dr.Wasundhara Bhad Patil ma’am. Dr. Arti Gangurde, Professor and Head, Department of Prosthodontics along with the Associate Professors Dr Manish Chauhan, Dr Niraja Jaiswal, Dr Ravikumar Akulwar and team organized a three-day program, full of scientific and extracurricular events from 20th January to 22nd January 2025.
The first day started with a Crossword puzzle for second year BDS students to create interest among them about the subject and Prosthodontic specialty. It was followed by Rangoli competition showcasing various Prosthodontic treatment modalities and promoting awareness about the same amongst the patients.
On the second day, the “Geriatric Dental Care Unit” was inaugurated by Hon’ble Commissioner, Directorate of Medical Education and Research and Ayush, Shri Rajeev Nivatkar sir. The program was attended by Director, DMER Dr. Ajay Chandanwale sir and Joint Director (Dental) Dr. Vivek Pakhmode sir. This “Geriatric Dental Care Unit” is a comprehensive treatment unit to provide all services to elderly patients at one place. Flyers about various treatments provided by the Department of Prosthodontics were also released by the esteemed guests for patient awareness and distributed to senior citizens. It was highlighted in Lokmat newspaper too.
This was followed by Show Your Creativity and Slogan competitions, where undergraduate and Dental Mechanics students showcased their skills by making models using various dental materials.
On the third day, an E-poster competition on “Innovation in Dental Materials” was held. It received overwhelming response from the undergraduate and postgraduate students. This was later followed by a webinar by our Joint Director, Dr. Vivek Pakhmode sir about the Geriatric Dental Unit.
A wonderful skit was also presented by our undergraduate students for patient awareness regarding all the treatment modalities in Prosthodontics. The three day programme concluded with distribution of prizes for winners of various competitions and vote of thanks. AROUND 50% PATIENT HAVING DENTAL CARIES ,
AROUND 70% PATIENT WITH MISSING TEETH
AROUND 90% PATIENTS WITH GINGIVAL AND PERIODONTAL DISEASES
