On 12th Feb, as the second innings of our week long celebration, an “On the Job – Training Session” was conducted by the Dept. of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, GDC&H, Mymbai, where undergraduate students of third year and final year as well as the clinical assistants were taught and allowed to practice the basic skill which sits right in the center of our discipline – Suturing.

They were educated about the different types of wounds, need for suturing, principles of suturing, types of sutures, types of needles.

They were demonstrated and made to practice the correct way of holding a needle holder and taught the most commonly used suturing techniques of Simple Interrupted, Figure of Eight and Horizontal Mattress.

They were then tutored and guided while they independently practiced these sutures on foam pads.

We spent the day successfully teaching our eager students and imprinting superior skills for their better practices.
