VASTU VARDHAPAN DIN

The 62nd Vastu Vardhapan Din of Government Dental College and Hospital, Mumbai was celebrated on 4th July 2024 to commemorate the completion of 62 years of this institute in the present premised which was established on 28th February 1928.

The chief guest for the event was Dr RS Dolas, Ex Dean, GDCH Mumbai. The guest of honour were Dr Ashok Dhoble, Secretary IDA head office, Dr Ajay Lal, founder president, GDCH Bombay Alumni association.

The program began with the lamp lighting ceremony by the Dean, along with the guests and Dr Rajesh Gaikwad, Secretary, GDCH Mumbai Alumni association.

The Chief guest and the guest of honour were felicitated by the Dean, Dr Wasundhara A Bhad (Patil) with a shawl, shriphal, plant and a memento.

Dr Sandesh Mayekar, the Alumni speaker was felicitated by the Dean with a shawl, shriphal, plant and a memento.

Other senior Alumni member who were present were, Dr Suresh Meshram, Dr Sharad Kokate, Dr A Kumaraswamy, Dr DG Pol, Dr Hemant Dhusia, Dr Meenakshi Desai, Dr Praful Sabhadra, Dr Kiran Thakare, Dr Bharat Doraiswamy. All the alumni members were felicitated by Dean with Shawl and Shriphal.

This was followed by the welcome address by the Dean, Dr Wasundhara a Bhad (Patil).

A cake cutting ceremony was organized to celebrate this auspicious day.

Dr Sharad Kokate, senior alumni of GDC Mumbai presented a short video to pay homage to some of illustrious late alumni and teachers of GDCH Mumbai.

This was followed by an alumni lecture by Dr Sandesh Mayekar who spoke on the topic Am I in the right profession?

The alumni awards were distributed to the meritorious students. The list of the awards and the awardees is as below,

A special award, “Anand P Laroriya award” was instituted by Dr Surinder Laoriya, a senior alumnus od GDCH Mumbai in memory of her late husband Shri Anand Laroriya. Mr Satish Bhalla, brother of Dr Surnder Bhalla was present to declare the award. The award sponsors the tution fee of an economically deserving students who is not entitled to receive any scholarship. Kum. Garv Gola of I BDS was selected for receive the award.

The Dean also felicitated Mr Satish Bhalla with a shawl and Shriphal.

This was followed by a cultural program with songs sung by students, Atharv Belande and Aditi Kadam.

The staff and students of GDCH Mumbai participated in large numbers.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Rajesh Gaikwad, Secretary, GDCH Mumbai Alumni association.
